In a joint effort with Agroindustrias Unidas de México, S.A. de C.V. (AMSA in Spanish), we created Grupo Agroforestal — a group dedicated to the development of commercial fields of tropical pine trees and African palm trees in the south of México. The mission of this group is to promote the progress and development of Mexican fields and to produce innovative technology, while protecting and preserving the environment.
Since 2011, Grupo Agroforestal has converted livestock land into forest and farming lands with a projected 10,000 hectares of palm trees and 5,000 hectares of pine trees planted.
Through this project, we’ve developed small producers, suppliers and local communities by creating approximately 1,500 jobs. Additionally, the project covers extensive areas for the preservation of endemic flora and fauna.
In 2017, we kicked off operations at our largest and most-modern palm oil extraction plant in Latin America. This plant has innovative technology that allows us to carry out efficient and environmentally friendly processes.
